Urge Congress: Pass the Expanded Child Tax Credit Now

Policymakers have reached a new bipartisan agreement to expand the Child Tax Credit, which would provide critical support to millions of families facing poverty and hunger. If passed, this would help 16 million children whose families are currently ineligible for this federal assistance. While we continue to push for stronger and longer-term policy solutions to address hunger, the Child Tax Credit is a proven and powerful tool to lift families out of poverty. Congress must pass the Wyden-Smith tax plan as an important step forward. Take action now.

Urge Congress to Fully Fund WIC — We Cannot Turn Away 2 Million Moms and Young Children

Congress has failed to provide sufficient funding for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). With rising food costs, more people need support, and our government must step up. If they don’t, insufficient funding for WIC will force states to turn away an estimated 2 million mothers and young children from receiving vital nutrition assistance, creating a waiting list for the first time in over 25 years. Take action now.

Urge Congress to Support College Students Facing Hunger

College students should be able to focus on their education free from worries about being able to regularly eat nutritious food, however an estimated 1 in 3 college students in the U.S. faces hunger. MAZON has been steadfast in our commitment to ending hunger among college students and supports legislation that addresses the federal barriers to SNAP facing college students. Take action now.

Urge Congress to protect SNAP and lift up other MAZON priorities in the Farm Bill

The Farm Bill is one of the most transformational pieces of legislation that Congress regularly reauthorizes, and it is up for renewal. In addition to authorizing SNAP (food stamps) and other federal nutrition programs that serve tens of millions of Americans each year, the Farm Bill presents a unique opportunity to advance long-overdue policy solutions to the food security challenges of many special populations that MAZON prioritizes. Tell Congress: Pass the Puerto Rico Nutrition Assistance Fairness Act

Though a huge portion of Puerto Rico’s population lives in poverty, a federal block grant prevents these U.S. citizens from receiving the same nutrition benefits as those living in states on the mainland. It is well past time to fix this egregious problem — residents of Puerto Rico are entitled to access the same nutrition assistance as all other Americans. Take action now.

Urge Congress to Reintroduce the Tribal Nutrition Improvement Act

Join us in urging Congress to reintroduce the Tribal Nutrition Improvement Act, which would enable Tribes to administer child nutrition programs in Indian Country and ensure culturally appropriate food. Take action now.
